Meet Our Centre Manager

Moni Salonia

Years in childcare: Working in rooms as an Educator for 6 years, as a trainer of both cert III and diploma in ECEC for 10 years, as an Educational Leader for 6 years and as a Centre Manager my 5th year now.

Qualifications: Diploma in ECEC, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Bachelor in Education followed by a Master in Education with specialization in TESOL. Currently attending a Double Diploma in Business and Leadership & Management.

What makes you passionate about working in childcare? What it makes me passion about ECEC is the possibility to advocate for children’s rights and future. The fact to know that I am in a very privileged position where I can make a difference in children’s life.

What is the funniest or most memorable moment you can share from working in childcare? I have many memorable moments with children but if I have to choose one, I can refer to the one when I invented a song for 2 to 3 years old children about using their ‘inside voices’ while in the rooms and, one day one mother came to me asking me about the lyric of that song because her child started to sing the song to her and her husband when they seem to be speaking a bit loudly in the house. It shows me how much our job can assist and reach not only children but their families too.

Why do you believe your centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking the best childcare? In our centre, we have a great team of people who really love their job. They are authentic professional people who give everything from them for the children and families. It is not easy to find true passionate educators and Papilio Early Learning Camberwell is certainly one of the few.

Fun Fact: My legal name is Maria Alejandra and Moni is my nickname. But Moni does not even come from Monica as most of the people believe but, from ‘Monita’ which means ‘Little monkey’ in Spanish.
